Those who don’t love fruits don’t live a healthy life. Yes, you heard me right!

Fruits are necessary for Living beings as they contain nutrients naturally. To live a healthy life, a person must consume seasonal fruits as they are beneficial for that season. There are 5 types of fruits, namely, Drupes, Berries, Pomes, Pepo and Citrus fruits. Today we are going to discuss a drupe fruit which is loved for its various benefits, called AVOCADO.


Avocado🥑:

Avocado is a large berry with single big seed fruit, or you can say a drupe fruit. Its origin is in south-central Mexico and later cultivated in California, Peru and Chile. If we talk about the structure of an Avocado, its outer layer or peeling is rough and comes in dark brown when fully ripened, its top is vertically thick with a greenish yellow flesh and its bottom is round and thick with large hard seeds which are also beneficial for health and has multiple uses. In 1969, when it was first discovered in Ireland, it was first named Alligator Pear because of its shape and structure.

This fruit is famous across the world for its various benefits because of the enrichment of Vitamins, Minerals and fibre such as vitamins B, C, E and K, Potassium and Copper. A single Avocado contains an average calorie of 160, which is healthy, Protein 2g, Fat 14.7g (19%) and Carbohydrates 8.5g (3%).

Avocados seed is beneficial as the flesh but has different methods of utilisation. Avocado seeds are bitter because of their medical functions, so they cannot be eaten raw. To consume avocado seed, remove the outer layer of seed and grate the rest. Use it as written below.

  • You can toast them in a pan until golden brown and use them as garnishing food, smoothies and many other food and drinks. 
  • Make a decoction, boil them for 10 minutes and turn the heat low and wait till 5 minutes then turn off the stove, cool it and drink for the whole day.
  • Use it as fine powder by grinding them into a coffee grinder.

WARNING: Eating an excessive number of Avocado seeds and flesh can cause constipation because of the contents present in Avocados.

Avocado Seed Oil:



Let’s not forget about extracting oil from Avocado Seed, which is beneficial as it contains oleic acid (a mono-saturated fat), polyunsaturated fat, carotenoids and other antioxidant-rich nutrients.

 Avocado Oil can be used in 2 ways, namely, 

  • Consuming. 
  •  Applying.

Consumption of Avocado Oil:

Avocado oil can be consumed in.

  • ·       A small quantity in Smoothies.
  • ·       Drizzle on salads.
  • ·       Baking.
  • ·       Making homemade Mayonnaise.

Application of Avocado Oil:

Some of the methods of applying Avocado Oil are as under.

  • ·       After the bath, pat dry your skin and make a combination of essential oil with Avocado Oil and massage it into the skin.
  • ·       People have always complained about dry and flaky scalps; therefore, Avocado Oil has amusing effects on the scalp.
  •     Firstly, heat the required amount of Avocado Oil. To heat, the oil, pour the required amount of Avocado Oil into a small glass jar or ceramic jar, put it into recently boiled water, and check the temperature of the oil recurrently so it doesn’t get too hot, when it is warm as per required, then apply it on your scalp and massage it gently. Leave it for a night or 8 hours and shampoo out it later.
  • ·       By mixing an equal amount of Olive and Avocado Oil and massaging it on the skin once or twice a day will give you the result of healing and softening of the skin.
